- James Emery-Barker is Head of Anti-Financial Crime Policy & Framework at Baillie Gifford, MLRO for Baillie Gifford Europe, and Deputy MLRO for the Baillie Gifford Group. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in financial crime risk, spanning investment management, securities services and retail banking. His experience covers AML, CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and modern slavery, with roles across both first-line operational functions and second-line policy and oversight. Most recently, James has acted as a second-line financial crime SME for the Baillie Gifford Tokenised Fund, applying established financial crime frameworks and oversight to the risks and opportunities presented by emerging technology.
