Steve Smart is the Executive Director of Enforcement and Market Oversight at the Financial Conduct Authority and is also the FCA executive lead for fighting financial crime. He has had a 30 year career in the public sector focused on tackling national security threats, including terrorism and organised crime. He has experience in leading investigative and intelligence functions within various organisations. Prior to joining the FCA in the summer of 2023, he was the Director of Intelligence at the National Crime Agency. Steve is an economics graduate from the University of Lancaster and was awarded an OBE in 2003.
